Hobonichi Ustream Channel

February 22, 2011

It’s 8:00 PM, do you know where your live Itoi Ustream channel is?

In bed, of course! Because everyone in North America is going to start waking up for work and school soon.

Meanwhile, the Ustream channel of Itoi’s office has a live concert of silly instruments going on tonight to celebrate the release of Itoi’s latest book, Sheep Thief. The concert is being put on by Kuricorder Quartet, the band also responsible for the book’s theme song, “The Park in my Mind”:

And to quote the book’s website: “Huh? A theme song for a book? Yes, that’s right.”

Sheep Thief features a year’s worth of Itoi quips and includes a selection of tweets from his Twitter account. You have to be a very special man to compile entries from your Twitter account and sell them in a book illustrated by one of the most famous artists in Japan, Yoshitomo Nara. Luckily, Shigesato Itoi is a very special man.

I don’t even know what he’s playing.
